CHARTER

Suite Edward is part of the network of Artists’ Residences of the Art-Baiyun Association. Its management is independent, and its resources are devoted to developing activities of public interest that promote artistic and intercultural exchange.

Convinced that art is a universal language, Suite Edward encourages encounters between calligraphers, painters, sculptors, engravers and other artists, with the aim of sharing and discovering their respective sensitivities, promoting dialogue between cultures and contributing to a better understanding between peoples.

This Charter sets out the values that guide its actions. It provides the framework of reference for those responsible for its activities, as well as for the artists, partners and volunteers who participate in them.

In this spirit, every initiative supported or hosted by Suite Edward undertakes to:

1. Act with probity, integrity, mutual respect and a strong sense of responsibility.
2. Be in harmony with the history, culture and traditions of the host country, while respecting those of the invited artists and partners.
3. Recognise cultural diversity as a source of richness that fosters dialogue, openness and mutual understanding.
4. Demonstrate, through the quality of exchanges and achievements, that art is one of the most intuitive and fruitful ways of bringing women and men from different cultural backgrounds closer together.
5. Encourage creativity, initiative, the sharing of knowledge and the emergence of projects developed independently by their authors, in keeping with the values of this Charter.
6. Develop collaborations based on independence, voluntary commitment, solidarity and the absence of any profit-making purpose.

This Charter is intended to accompany initiatives that embrace these principles and, through the encounters they inspire, to foster collaborations founded upon trust, freedom and mutual respect.

It is likewise intended, over time, to bring together the organisations, projects and partners who wish to take part in this shared endeavour.
